So off to my local crag for a bit of early ish morning bouldering.
The crag is situated in a super shaded little quarry just past the style to Windgather Rocks heading along the road towards Pym Chair, not more than 100 yards.
Pass through the little gate on the left and the quarry opens up. There are some great little problems, with super small crimps to be had. You can just make the routes up as you go. It's not about the height it's about the technique, so look for the opportunities to improve your skills and add more moves to your tool box of tricks. These new found moves will come in on the harder routes out on the crag.
So, I started off with the usual rock hoping Cliff. This is a good trick you showed me some time back, it's a nice little balance and warm up routine. Just hop and balance from rock to rock.
There's also a nice little sloping boulder in the quarry, just try nice and slowly to climb up it no hands.
So warmed up ready to go, did lots of different problems then went on to trying to get up as far as I could without using my hands, great way to practice balance.
This is a super problem Cliff, using an under pull on the overhang section of the boulder then step onto the sloping face at the base.
Really tricky as it just wants to pop your feet as soon as you press up. Once your on, head for the top.
Not as easy as it looks, so good luck.
Now onto the next problem, I've been working this for a while. I called it (lonely sheep) as at the time of learning the moves there was a lonely sheep living in the quarry.
So first move
Right foot on the small sloper on the bottom.
Grip right then left with a crimp in this order only.
Time for home.
