Mountain Biking in the Peak
Heading out from whaley Bridge head up Eccles rd and aim for ladder hill. Turn off onto the little bridleway called Long lane. This takes you out over towards Combs village and skirts the iconic ladder hill with its past history looming out before you. You will pass Cadster stone circle
Not so obvious but still an important feature in the landscape. Continue on till the fork in the lane and head up towards Wythen Lache farm.
As soon as you pass the farm you are heading towards the Whitehall centre, outward bounds. Bare right and up the track over the fields to Hanging stones.
Looking towards Wythen Lache farm.
As soon as you rise up onto the edge above the Whitehall centre you will be over powered by the force of the oncoming landscape, the Goyt valley rises up beneath you and fades out into the distance with the cat and Fiddle on the horizon.
Passing Errwood reservoir you will race up the street and turn right into the woodlands heading for Norman wood farm and beyond. Taxel will soon appear providing a fantastic finish to what can only be said to be a splendid day out.
