Sunset on the Trig

Super nights sunset on Mam Tor tonight.

Sunset over the trig point.

The sun setting over Rushup Edge.

Check ya length

What goes up must come down, but remember to come down as safe as you went up.

Be careful out there.

Aldery cliff Earl Sterndale, super crag. Limestone routes in a super spot. Finished my run then got a shout down to Aldery Cliff, 20 mins away from home.

Chap had a nasty fall whilst abseiling off the route.

Bit busy at the gate.

Wild running

Bog joggin.

Super view from Stake side heading towards Errwood res.

Nice steady run down.

Next task, a Callout to Aldery Cliff to a fallen climber.

Misty moors

Late night call to a lost walker on Kinder Scout last night at around 22:00. Rushup edge to Edale was almost impassable due to fog, the fog was below, low.

Driving conditions were hazardous, driving at around 5mph, passing through Mam nick below Mam tor was interesting to say the least.

Mam nick on a sunny day.

Heading up Jacobs ladder onto Kinder plataue.

Very dark indeed.

Not much visibility here.

Enhanced to show the difference.

So off up Jacobs ladder when we get a call on the radio to return to base.

Jacobs ladder on a finer day.

The cass has been found safe and sound by a SARDA dog handler. http://www.sardaengland.org.uk/

So, a super result by the team at Mountain Rescue England & Wales.

Mountain Rescue Call to Edale

                                                  http://www.battleoats.com/

Busy day on the hill, with a stretcher carry off down Grindsbrook to the Nags Head in Edale village.

Good place to refresh, hydrate so to speak. Oh bugger, no wallet.

Tricky terrain to negotiate, steep sides to the right lots of team members required here to keep the chaps on stretcher party safe from slipping down the bank.

The heather is in full bloom in the valley at present, a sight for sore eyes.

More tricky ground to negotiate.

So all in all casualty is back safe and sound at the Nags on his way to Sheffield A&E. Good turnout from both Edale and Buxton Teams. All volunteers giving 24hr 365 days a year cover to respond to emergency situations.

Moorland jog

MOORLAND
Wild
Running

Super wild run out across the moors tonight. Started just below Pym Chair and ran along the moor to Pym Chair then left down the road side on the path to Foxlow car park, turned round and headed back up the hill to Pym Chair.

Parked up below Pym Chair

We headed out across the moor in superb evening sunshine.

Superb views across to Kinder Plateau.

Hitting the Wall

Long awaited, the wall is on its way up. Early in the year the Drytooling Wall had to come down due to a rather dangerous tree leaning over it. Alls been removed and the wall is ready to rise from the ashes.

It will look better than this in a couple of days.

DT holds being tested when we first made the wall

More BLOGs to come from the wall as we start to move into the Drytooling season.

Foxlow Edge

                                                          http://www.battleoats.com/

Super run out this morning over Foxlow Edge in the goyt valley.

                                    http://www.walkingbritain.co.uk/walks/walks/walk_b/3510/

Looking over towards the ridge of Foxlow Edge.

Fantastic run over the top of Foxlow then down into the woods at Errwood Hall,

back round and up the long strenuous hill to the car park. Total stamina is needed here, glad to say did it in one solid run without stops. Sadley the hall no longer exists, just a mere set of footings remain.

Super DRY

Limestone, super dry after a nights rain. Set off to look at Aldery Cliff at Earl Sterndale to see the effects of a good nights rain. The answer was as expected, none. The crag was super dry, the grass around was super wet. So even after a nights rain the crag is good to go. Theses are the benefits of limestone, none porous and drys quick.

View from above on the Hurdlow rd

Lots to see in and around the crag faces.

Take time to look around and enjoy the environment, but most of all leave it as you find it.

High Wheeldon opposite the crag with the sun pushing through.

Super area for walking, but above all the climbing is second to none.

High Wheeldon from Hurdlow.

Lovely old barn on the way out.
